Securing energy in the Town of Cambria to minimize blackouts and reduce high energy costs.

About the Project

The Cambria ESS, LLC Project is a proposed battery energy storage system (BESS) in the Town of Cambria, New York that will provide a critical, cost-effective source of reliable power to support the local area. This battery energy storage system will store energy on the local distribution network for Cambria residents, discharging cheaper, cleaner power to homes and businesses during the time of day when demand is at its peak.

By storing excess energy and delivering it to homeowners when it is needed most, battery storage helps balance supply and demand, lower monthly electric bills, reduce strain on the utility grid, and prevent outages.

Local infrastructure for your COMMUNITY

Securing Cambria, Pendleton, Amherst and Wheatfield

Community-level battery energy storage projects like the Cambria Project connect to the local distribution system, namely the existing NYSEG 232 Oakwood Substation. Its main impact is local. It supports local substations, reduces strain during peak demand, and improves reliability in this area.

This project additionally supports the towns of Pendleton, Amherst, and Wheat field with the host community, Cambria, receiving benefits of predictable, reliable tax revenue, and local oversight.

Here is the local distribution map that is supported by the Cambria battery energy storage project.

Commitment to Safety

We believe in being a responsible neighbor, ensuring energy development that benefits both the environment and local communities without burdening existing infrastructure.

About Us

RIC Energy North America is a renewable energy developer committed to delivering sustainable projects that help communities meet their growing energy demands. Founded in Spain in 2005, RIC Energy expanded into North America in 2010 and has since successfully deployed gigawatts of distributed and utility-scale solar and energy storage, and green hydrogen projects. By harnessing our global expertise and local insights, we develop energy projects that drive economic growth while respecting communities and their surroundings, ensuring we are a responsible and valued neighbor.
